The South Pars Oil Field is located in the center of Persian Gulf, about 105 km from Iranian coast, and adjacent to the international boundary with Qatar. The field is the north eastern extension of Al-Shaheen Oil Field in the Qatar. The Iranian portion of the field is located in 67 meters water depth.
Project Objectives:
- Oil production at the rate of 35,000 bbl/pd at the early stage of Phase 1
- Evaluation of new oil prospects
- Preparation of Phase II development plan
The most significant activities of South Pars Oil layer Project are as follows:
- Preparing the static and dynamic models of reservoir
- 3D-seismic studies and geological analysis and reservoirs model studies
- Construction and installation of Template
- Drilling 7 wells
- Construction, installation and commissioning Wellhead platform
Description of performed tasks:
- Geo-science (geophysical, geological and petro physical) studies, developing the reservoirs’ static and dynamic models and updating them through utilizing the data gathered from the drilled wells
- Construction and installation of Jacket on
- Drilling 6 new oil producing wells and work-over an existing well approximately 21 Km in length by utilizing PEDCO's owned jack-up, MARIN DRILLER1. Drilling and completion operatins completed
- Completing topside construction operations
First flow out and Well testing of South Pars Oil Layer was started by instructions of Managing Director of NIOC and Clients Managing Director (POGC) in 18th Annual Oil and Gas Exhibition in Tehran on April-13-2013
