TEHRAN (PEDCO) – The National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) and Petroiran Development Company Limited (PEDCO) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the latter to use domestically-built multiphase pumps in oil fields.
The document was signed in a ceremony held on Monday, September 30, 2018, by Ahmad Mohammadi, CEO of NISOC, and Sepehr Sepehri, PEDCO CEO.
Addressing the ceremony, Mr. Mohammadi stated that multi-phase wellhead pumps are one of the important items in the process of production and extraction of oil in low-pressure wells.
Application of such pumps for oil production in wells that suffer from low flow pressure has an important effect on the continuation of oil production.
He said: "Using such equipment for wells with low flow pressure is more efficient and cost-effective compared to downhole pumps and has beneficial effects on increasing the life of the well, improving the production process, preventing burning of associated gases, hence, preserving the environment."
Referring to the experience of using multiphase pumps in Ahvaz field, Mr. Mohammadi said: "Due to the importance of this equipment and supporting domestic production, NISOC put their localization on the agenda with the cooperation of the related partners, including Karun Oil and Gas Production Company and a private knowledge-based company.”
He further added that the MoU was signed with the aim of developing domestic production, supporting localization and self-reliance of the oil industry and empowering the private sector.
